Water Under the Bridge

The last couple of weeks was a return to 3D and water rendering in roughly equal parts. If nothing else, this blog is going to keep me honest. As you may recall from my last post, I had switched entirely to 2D. Switching back to 3D was a rough transition, and I ended up doing quite a bit of what I call code “nesting”. However ultimately success was had and water was rendered.

Changing perspective

So it’s been a while! I was holding out on doing another post until I finished the loose material and liquid simulation and rendering. Well, its been quite a journey, and unfortunately most everything I tried over the last couple of weeks has ended up different or much worse that what I started with. That’s just how life (and game development) goes sometimes.

Terra Diem is planned to be a hybrid sandbox/exploration/RPG game based on uncovering the secrets of the lost Terran civilization and their earth-shaping powers. Building this game is what this blog is about. This post is the development backstory leading to the present day.

So you want to make a blog...

This blog is about everything Terra Diem and this post is not really about the game. It certainly was not my plan for a first post. However, this was where I spent my time over the last week and a half for the game, and it turned out to be quite a journey. I’ll go more into what the game is about in a future post. This post is about the trials and tribulations of getting this blog off the ground.
